How Do I Prepare for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

During your first consultation with your provider, we will discuss your medical history, your concerns, and goals. We will explain what the BBL procedure consist of, including its benefits, risks, and limitations, and answer any questions you may have about the Brazilian Butt Lift.

After confirming your wishes to move ahead with a BBL, Dr. Payne our board-certified plastic surgeon will work with you to develop a custom treatment plan designed to achieve your desired outcome. In preparation for surgery we recommend the following guidelines for Brazilian buttock augmentation:

How Is BBL Surgery Performed?

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a fat transfer procedure for body contouring that requires specialized care. This is considered an outpatient procedure and is typically performed with general anesthesia. In some cases of BBL surgery, if smaller amounts of fat are used, then it could be done under sedation.

During this cosmetic surgery, fat is removed via liposuction. After the excess fat removal is complete it is then purified then transferred fat is injected through small incisions into each side of the buttocks area. Removing fat specifically in the lower back area also enhances the gluteal region which can help achieve the best results.

Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Payne has received the extensive training and experience necessary to perform BBL safely. It is extremely important to find an member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or a delegate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery for Brazilian Butt Lift.

If the procedure is done incorrectly, there is a high risk of fat embolism that can occur when fat enters blood vessels causing an increase in mortality rate and risk.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

An ideal Brazilian Butt Lift candidate is someone who is maintaining a healthy lifestyle, interested in volumizing and shaping their buttocks with no serious underlying health conditions.

BBL is most suitable for patients with good skin elasticity that have little to no sagging and have an adequate amount of fat that can be transferred. You can not use nicotine in any form for 6 weeks before and after surgery.

Avoid second hand smoke as it can lead to an infection and poor results of surgery.

What Other Procedures are Combined With a BBL?

A Brazilian Buttock Lift is usually only performed with liposuction. We do not recommend performing a breast augmentation or a tummy tuck at the same time as a BBL.

The reason for this is simple, you need to stay off the buttocks after the BBL which you can not do if you have an abdominoplasty or breast implants. A BBL requires you to lay on your tummy or stomach to relieve pressure off the buttocks which will not give you a great result for the Tummy Tuck.

In addition, there is a higher risk of infection of the breast implants when combined with a BBL. For these reasons, we will avoid these risks by not combining a BBL with other procedures.

Would you risk the optimal results to combine surgeries? Some surgeons believe it is okay, but do they truly have your best interests in mind? These are the questions you will need to ask when determining the surgeon you want to do your surgery.

When asked which procedures to perform first, we recommend the BBL prior to a Tummy Tuck to utilize the fat removed via liposuction from the abdomen to fat graft the buttocks.

What are the Benefits of a BBL?

Confidence is key! Specially when it comes to appearance of the areas of the body. After your BBL you will have a more rounder, fuller look that will compliment an hourglass shape that can boost your confidence and make you look and feel younger.

BBL can be performed on most body types. Most common benefits of this plastic surgery are body symmetry, immediate results, natural appearance, and safest form of butt enhancement.

Will I Have Scars After a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Scarring can vary depending on the amount of fat that needs to be harvested. There will be small incisions at the liposuction site. Dr.

Payne takes great care to place small incisions in areas that can be easily hidden. With the proper scar management care, avoiding direct sun exposure and using a scar scream will help with your scar to heal and become less visible.

Are the Effects of a Brazilian Butt Lift Permanent?

A successful BBL results can last for a long time with proper recovery after surgery. As this is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, the buttocks may change with normal aging process overtime.

A small portion of the new fat cells can often die after they are transferred. The most accurate way of determining how BBL results last will depend on maintaining your healthy lifestyle habits and following the postoperative instructions.
